One of the most common things I read with regards to sleep hygiene is that the bedroom should be used for sleep and intimacy only. But many of us who live in smaller apartments do not have this luxury. My bedroom also doubles as my home office, and due to my situation, this is unlikely to change any time soon. What do you recommend for people like me?

Thank you for this article. I think another problematic factor related to sleep loss, at least in my case, is overeating to try to get an energy boost. This makes it hard to stick to a healthy diet and control my weight.

All good ideas. I wear a sleep tracker watch and can see the influence of the drugs on my deep sleep. Steroids made going to sleep difficult, especially the racing heart. However, once asleep I quickly went into several long periods of deep sleep.

Another time, I didn't see was water consumption around bedtime. I'm guilty of late water consumption and the result is a couple of late night runs to the bathroom. Have been using a bedside collection to allow me to quickly get back in bed and avoid critters on the floor!

I was prescribed melatonin began with a 5 mg Dose went up to 20 mg. However I have found that I feel very jittery and anxious through the night and next couple days. Also I found some articles that say that melatonin overdose causes depression - is that true?

To the poster above me, I've always read to not use your bed itself to do anything else. Ive always been under the impression that as long as you're not reading, watching tv, doing work while sitting or lounging in the bed you're ok. I could be wrong...
And I often eat more during the day too when I don't sleep.
